Things Fall Apart: An Analysis
.... have a bad
"chi."
Okonkwo's destiny is marked by bad luck, one reason may be that he is so
driven by the fear of resembling his father that he struggles to repress part of
his personality with predictably afflicted results.
This was a society where a man was judged by his own achievement and not
that of his fathers. Yams were the primary crop of Umuofia. A sign of
manliness was if you could farm yams to feed your family. Okonkwo is respected
because of his hard work.
The complex pattern .....

To Kill A Mockingbird: An Analysis
.... one
putting "gifts" in the tree. Boo even sewed up Jem's pants that tore on Dill's
last night. Boo was the one who saved their lives. On the contrary to Scout's
primary belief, Boo never harms anyone. Scout also realizes that she wrongfully
treated Boo when she thinks about the gifts in the tree. She never gave
anything back to Boo, except love at the end. When Scout escorts Arthur home and
stands on his front porch, she sees the same street she saw, just from an
entirely different perspective. Scou .....

.... hands. He was said to eat "raw squirrels and any cats he could
catch".(pg12) During the rest of the book Scout and companions tried to meet
Arthur (Boo) and get over their fear of him. They did not succeed. But he showed
affection for them by leaving them gifts in a tree. Finally at the end of the
book he proves he is a good person by saving Scout and Jem's lives. In this
instance Scout may have found that to negatively prejudge someone is wrong. She
also learned compassion.

To Kill A Mockingbird: Summary
.... Ewell
is Mayella's father. He is out for revenge on Atticus for what he did to him and
his daughter. Mayella is Bob's daughter who supposedly got raped by Tom Robinson.
Judge Taylor is the Judge of Maycomb County. Heck Tate is the county law
official.
I think the protagonist in the story is Atticus Finch because he has the
main part and he has the biggest decision to make. The decision being whether to
defend or not to defend Tom Robinson.
To Kill a Mockingbird is set in Maycomb County, an imaginary d .....

To Kill A Mockingbird: Prejudice Is Part Of Our Inherent Nature
.... accepts is
something which goes to the essence of a man's own conscience. Atticus is
unable to treat the underdogs of the town how the majority of people act towards
them. Clearly the people of Maycomb are narrow-minded, bigoted and hypocritical,
and Atticus Finch is not. Nothing can be done to make the prejudiced, perverse
people hear the truth. This dogmatic attitude does not occur exclusively
between the whites and the Negroes either. The community's unsubstantiated
stories about other citizen .....

Tom Sawyer
.... had not run out of paint.
On June 17th about the hour of midnight, Tom and his best friend Huck
were out in the grave yard trying to get rid of warts, when they witnessed a
murder by Injun Joe. At the time Muff Potter was drunk and asleep so Injun Joe
blamed the murder him (Muff Potter). They knew if crazy Injun Joe found out they
knew, he would for sure kill them. Tom wrote on a wooden board "Huck Finn and
Tom Sawyer swear to keep mum about this and they wish they may drop down dead in

Ellison's "Battle Royal"
.... given the chance to chase the money, they were numb from pain. I don't
think the new torture methods were really affecting the boys. Their bodies
became somewhat immune to the blows after awhile.
My battle royal was a little bit different from the boys in the story.
I did not really suffer from outside torment. The battle I faced was mostly
inside myself. People didn't have to say anything and I would be judging myself
and putting myself down. Like the boys in the boxing ring fighting one another,

Wife Of Bath
.... One may advise a woman to be one; Advice in my commandment in my view. He
left in our judgement what to do." In this quote, the Apostle Paul is telling
the Wife to use her good judgement against her views.
It is considerably easy to understand the Wife's views about feminism,
because in her time women did not have the same privilege's as men. She
expresses her strong opinions, which results in gaining the power that she
always wanted.

Winston Smith's Downfall
.... to become used more frequently. The
object of Newspeak was to reduce the number of words in one's vocabulary,
therefore reducing one's opportunity to have free thought. At the Ministry of
Truth, Newspeak words were being used to transform all literary works of the
past into an acceptable state for the present. It was factors such as these
that prompted the intellectual rebellion and desire for knowledge which
ultimately caused the downfall of Winston Smith.
As time passed, Winston Smith had a growin .....

this and told Berengaria the 'news' of his demise. Unable to cope with such a
revelation, she died and was entombed, as a mummy, with her book beneath the

her tomb destroyed. Sent to a group of Australian women (in order to keep it

Jay McInerney's Bright Lights, Big City: You Are The Coma Baby
.... in his world of narcotic-induced pleasure. The
author uses the interaction of the main character and the Coma Baby as proof
that the main character will not realize the fallacies of his ways until he has
hit rock-bottom.
The Coma Baby is shown to be the symbolic representation of the main
character through his actions and philosophy toward life, a philosophy wholly
irresponsible and unmotivated. As the main character approaches he asks the
Baby if he's going to come out. The Baby responds with "No .....

The Anasazi Indians
.... and Chuskas.
These Indians lived as small scattered families of hunters and seed gatherers.
They developed agriculture, learned to make baskets and irrigate.
The Anasazi religion was very different compared to other religions of
the world. Anasazi Indians chose to bury their dead either in the trash or
against walls. The ghosts of the Anasazi were feared widely by most Navajos for
some reason. The oddest thing about the Anasazi is that they had some kind of
infatuation with a humpbacked, flute playing .....

12 Angry Men: Boy Is Innocent
.... could an
old man with poor hearing hear this? . This old man is not a believable
witness to the murder of this man. You can't believe what he said. The train
was just too loud for him to possibly hear the yells of the boy.
After leaving his house, the boy went to see a movie to get away from
all of this. He was under total stress. I am sure he did not care to look at
the title of the movie. He probably just wanted in to get away. This way his
mind was focused on other things other than his father .....
