The Epic Of Gilgamesh
.... to cross the ocean to find it. He sounds pathetic as he rambles of
his reason for trying to find everlasting life. His state of being at this part
in the book, which is the end, is completely different from his arrogant
beginning of this epic. Gilgamesh has gone from arrogant to scared.
Second, the death of Humbaba changes Gilgamesh. Humbaba is evil. Many
people who live in the city of Uruk fear Gilgamesh. Most would say that
Gilgamesh himself is, in fact, evil. He has sex with the virgins, h .....

had never gone to the hospital before for her other deliveries, this time she

The Grapes Of Wrath: Symbols And The Theme Of Man Vs. A Hostile Environment
.... by nature. The theme is one of man verses a hostile
environment. His body destroyed but his spirit is not broken. The method used
to develop the theme of the novel is through the use of symbolism. There are
several uses of symbols in the novel from the turtle at the beginning to the
rain at the end. As each symbol is presented through the novel they show
examples of the good and the bad things that exist within the novel.
The opening chapter paints a vivid picture of the situation facing the

The Great Gatsby: A Full Spectrum Of Character
.... in
material wealth, and in the comfort and security associated with it. Daisy seems
to be easily impressed by material success, as when she is touring Gatsby's
mansion and seems deeply moved by his collection of fine, tailored shirts. It
would seem that Tom's relative wealth, also, had at one time impressed her
enough to win her in marriage. In contrast to that, Gatsby seems to not care a
bit about money itself, but rather only about the possibility that it can win
over Daisy. In fact, Gatsby's extreme ge .....

The Great Gatsby: Nick Carroway A Good And Neutral Narrator
.... go to Gatsby's funeray.
I called up Daisy half and hour after we found him,
called her instinctively and without hersitation. But
she and Tom had gone away early that afternoon, and
taken baggage with them.
Therefore, Nick Carroway's analysis was right by these clear
observation.
However, Nick Carroway is a good narrator, he sees everything happen
and does not trust everybody easily. So during the people discuss about
something at a time, .....

The Hobbit: A Review
.... last climax (or what is supposed to be the climax) takes a long time to
occur (the last fight—good (men, elves, dwarves & eagles) vs. evil (wargs &
goblins)) and this reduces its effectiveness. After the climax there is the long
return home. It is quite boring since there is nothing to expect to and the
reader knows that the hobbit would get home safely. In my opinion it should
have been shorter.
Character Development
The creation of the characters is done by their dialogues and monologues,
actions .....

The Ironies Of Orwell's 1984

one whom is older and wiser and helps the "littler siblings" -- this not the
case with 1984's Big Brother. The Big Brother in this novel completely watches
over every move a person makes keeping them controlled with fear.
The next type of irony is Situation irony, which is when a character or a
sequence of events appears to be headed one way, but it ends up as the opposite
of what was thought. One example of this is Winston's general health. From the
beginning of the book, it is shown how horrib .....

The Island Of Dr. Moreau
.... The Next sketch illustrates the beasts new thirst for blood, which is a
major turning point for the story. Roaming free, these beast-people are highly
intelligent with murderous instincts. Their thirst for blood is pacified
through a combination of sedatives and shock discipline. But events triggered
by Prendick's unexpected arrival are about to break Moreau's God- like
domination over these resentful creatures.
The last drawing in my visual essay symbolizes a catastrophe. This was

The Light In The Forest: Analysis
.... the Moon, and his brother-in-law the Wind. In today's society we seem
to concentrate on technology, while such oneness with nature is almost non-
existent.
As an author, Conrad Richter appears to be a skilled writer. I found
numerous strengths and only two weaknesses. One strength was his use of strong
visual images. "What he hungered for most was the sight of an Indian face
again-his father's, deep red, shaped like a hawk's, used to riding the wind,
always above the earth, letting nothing small or .....

the spell of the White Witch was fading. Then they met up with Aslan and he

is when Aslan's army and the witches army confront and Aslan's army wins.

The Old Man And The Sea: An Analysis

The struggle between the marlin is a beautiful depiction of courage and
resilience, but I begin to wonder who is hooked into who. The old man and the
fish are one and their lives become connected through that line as they live
each moment according to the other's actions. Even the old man is not sure who
is better, him or the marlin, and he mentions several times they are not that
different. And whether or not the sharks ate his fish, it only matters that the
old man brought .....

Zinn's A People's History Of The United States: The Oppressed
.... colonists whose
plight was ignored by the ruling bourgeoisie, and most importantly, the rising
class and racial struggles in America that Zinn correctly credits as being the
root of many of the problems that we as a nation have today. It is refreshing to
see a book that spends space based proportionately around the people that lived
this history. When Columbus arrived on the Island of Haiti, there were 39 men on
board his ships compared to the 250,000 Indians on Haiti. If the white race
