Hamlet: Contrast Between Laertes And Hamlet

Hamlet: Antiheroism In Hamlet
.... four places a special emphasis on Hamlet's intelligence. In scene
two, Hamlet is very insolent and rude towards Rosencrantz and Guildenstern
with such phrases as,
That I can keep your counsel and not, mine own. Beside, to be
demanded of a sponge, what replication should be made by the son of a
king? (IV, ii, 12-14)
The reference to the sponge reflects the fact that Rosencrantz and
Guildenstern are easily ordered by the king and do not have minds of their

Hamlet: Character Traits

Critical Article On MacBeth

Comparison Of Macbeth And Jack (of Lord Of The Flies)
.... For Macbeth, he hesitated six times before killing
Duncan. But when he planned to kill Banquo and Macduff's family, he didn't
hesitated and killed them without regret. Lastly, they were both
superstitious. Jack was superstitious, he worshipped the Lord of the Flies
and held a ritual dance around the camp fire after sacrificing the pig. For
Macbeth, he believed in the fortune telling of the three witches. (Quote:

When Lady Macbeth heard of her husband's success and read the letter, we
almost immediately feel that a new source of power had appared in the drama.
Her words reflected a great knowledge of her husband and her practical

.... wicked and evil witches deceive their victim, Macbeth, by
equivocating his prophecies. As a result of this new "half-true" knowledge,
Macbeth makes rash decisions that lead him to paranoia, grief, and his
downfall.
The first set of prophecies the witches reveal to Macbeth, in act 1,
scene 3, was that Macbeth is to become thane of Glamis, thane of Cawdor and

Tragic Knowledge, Comedic Idiocy
.... of these plays allowed the playwright to convey a message to the peasantry in the audience on how to act. Shakespeare utilized this power and showed the lower classes what would result due to their actions.
The commoners in A Midsummer Night's Dream are horrible actors that don't have a clue. The only commoner that shows any sense is Quince, who directs the whole bunch (which is probably Shakespeare blowing his own horn, as all directors believe they are intelligent). Shakespeare's Hamlet
