National Geographic: Mysteries Underground
.... of years of forming. In some parts of caves there are giant and
very smooth ice formations that must be slid down very carefully because if they
are not taken cautiously you will pick up to much speed while sliding and
finally hit some kind of stone wall or something. One lady was not careful
enough and boy did she pay. She was only a mile and a half or so in the cave
and she broke her leg. It took almost five days to get who to the surface of
the cave where she could be attended to. Also I found o .....

miserable for Thatcher. The mature Kane decides to take direct control of a
small, struggling newspaper, and immediately begins using it to attack Thatcher

Children And Television
.... else that adds to this is that sometimes children
cannot make the distinction between fantasy and reality. Quickly a cartoon
about a man hunting a rabbit can turn into a story of murder. Another cartoon
character that may harm children is Yosimite Sam. When he becomes angry, he
begins to fire his pair of guns into the air and at other characters. This
could cause children to act violently to appease their anger. This includes
hitting and throwing things. This is an extreme view of the situat .....

Children, TV, And Violence
.... and learning. When you watch children's programs today you see senseless
violence often as the first means of solving a problem. The classic view of
"good" versus "evil" is the basis of these shows with violence as the answer.
When children watch these programs they copy the actions and "morals" of these
shows depicting "good" and "evil". Children do not know what "good" is or what
"evil" is, how can they? This world is not broken into "good" and "evil".
"Evil" to children is what opposes them, wha .....

Film Review: Close Encounters Of The Third Kind
.... movie lies firmly in the
outstanding performances by Dreyfuss, Barro, and co-star Terri Garr. Dreyfuss
has a knack for being able to portray an erratic man who in one instant is
completely normal, and at other times becomes utterly insane. Melinda Barro
also puts in an extremely believable performance as Dreyfuss's side-kick in
search of her abducted son. But perhaps the most hidden success of this movie
is the very underrated actress Teri Garr, who put in her two cents as Dreyfuss's
wife. Garr did .....

ordinary person from New York so that his cover will not be "blown". The

Consumer Appeal
.... It tends to "suck you in", so to say,
because it causes the viewers to become involved and engrossed in solving the
mystery.
The assumed target of this series is mainly adults over the age of
twenty-five, with the exceptions of those viewers that do not watch it at the
time it actually airs, but they tape it to watch later. Because of the time it
airs, the viewers are very select: children under the age of ten are presumably
in bed, junior and senior high schoolers are out, and anyone out of high s .....

Critique Of Romeo And Juliet The Movie
.... as to the old movies. For some reason, the setting of Mercutio's death
interfered with this supposedly poetic scene. A broken down stage on a sandy
beach does not seem to fit well together. The setting seemed pretty artificial.
Also, the scene when one of the Montagues died at the gas station did not seem
as depressing as would be if any other person was to die. This scene was the
opening one so, the audience could have been distracted by the dialogue and
therefore, not paying attention to the death to .....

David Selznick And Since You Went Away
.... this period, applauded it's "realism", but in hindsight
studies of the film in the seventies and eighties were a little more critical of
the film. David O. Selznick was the man behind the vision of this film and
Selznick is best known for film classic's like; Gone With the Wind, (from which
the formula of this movie draws heavily from) Rebecca, and King Kong. This
film was a special project for Selznick at the time, and it was seen as his
contribution to the war effort. The academy awards recognized .....

Dead Man Walking
.... Sister Helen showed what being a Catholic and a
Catholic nun is truly about. She accepted a call for help from a complete
stranger. Instead of turning away or giving up, she persisted, showing what
love and, in a way, courage could do under such dire circumstances. Through it
all, she did it with spirit, life, vitality, and strength. Her relationship
with the convict, Matthew Poncelet, was on two levels. The first was as a
friend and confidant. Sister Helen was the first to truly explore Matthew for

Dead Poets Society

smile. Still with the same angle, the camera swings around to show the faces of
his friends as he tells them his news. Their facial expressions as showed by
the camera are delightful and happy ones. This makes Knox even more happy.
The scene ends with a close up of Knox hanging up the phone and then a
high level shot of him running up the stairs.
Scene where Mr Keating tell the class to come up and stand on the desk.

students to the broad possibilities that life held for them. The boys learned
that they deserved more than the daily routine, that they were not satisfied
with living up to the expectations of others. As a result, they re-established
the Dead Poet's society, and consequently experienced what they had been
protected from previously. The most significant change wrought from both the
arrival of Mr. Keating and the re .....
