Pornography Can Lead To Violence Toward Women
.... to the root meaning of the word, pornographic material depicts women as articles purchased or captured. Pornography dehumanizes women. The material often focuses only on certain body parts such as the breast or legs, suggesting that a woman does not exist as a whole person but rather she consists of many pieces that a man can pick and choose from. Some pornographic material more blatantly portrays women as enslaved objects, showing their bodies in chains and bondage, down on all fours for a conquering .....

Censorship In Society
.... have stickers that are labeled ‘Explicit Lyrics’ pasted on them, or the bad word is simply ‘beeped’ out, along with that small portion of the song. It ruins the song. One band, the Insane Clown Posse was banned because of their lyrics, and their name. I may not list to the band, but I feel that others should be able to listen to them if they want to.
Books are normally banned instead of censored. Sometimes, the inappropriate spot in the book might be changed, but most of the time the book is ba .....

Censorship Threatens Freedom Of Speech
.... What is obscenity? Clearly something hard to talk about constructively. Obscenity is difficult to discuss honestly. After all what makes something obscene? It is something too vague perhaps to be defined. It’s an elusive term we use, but can’t explain. Different people often see things in a different format. Some see obscenity in nude pictures, statues, paintings. While others find less obscenity in these things. So who is the authority to dictate such laws? And most of all are our young ad .....

Good Communications Skills
.... outside of my comfort zone, and speak in front of others on a variety of different topics. In turn, I learned how to listen to other people and react to them in a friendlier way. Dale Carnegie reiterated this quote in his book The Quick and Easy Way to Effective Speaking.
"Expressiveness is the result of earning the right and having an eager desire to share the message with the audience."
Basically, he taught me to be myself, put my heart into everything I say, make my voice be heard, and be ho .....

America And Affirmative Action
.... and structural forces that impede a fair assessment of their capabilities.
Perhaps the biggest complaint that one hears about affirmative action policies aimed at helping Black Americans is that they violate the 14th Amendment of the Constitution and the Civil Rights laws., The claim is that these programs distort what is now a level playing field and bestow preferential treatment on understanding minorities because of the color of their skin. While this view seems very logical on the surface, .....

Gender
.... less aggressive, more sharing, more imitation of relationship and intimate discussion, more charitable, more empathetic, more likely to smile, more sensitive, and more skilled at expressing emotions non-verbally. Let’s face it males, women are the super humans. One of the positive key advantages of a male is their assertiveness and high self-esteem. The women on the other hand are more extroverted and tender minded, qualities, which enable them to be all of the characteristics listed before .....

Gender Inbalances In School
.... entering them. I know that they (females) can do the work but there may be glass walls preventing them from entering.
I don’t believe that it is a “fruitless” effort to engage in a way that would promote women in these fields. Since I have been in college I have change my major 3 times. Most of my friends have also. So it is not the case that women have made up their mind by the time that they enter college and it can’t be changed. It may not be the individual teacher’s responsibility to encourage .....

Teenagers
.... start to believe that losing weight will make them happier, but no matter how much weight is lost, it is never enough, and they are never happy. Going through puberty early can be very upsetting, especially if the teenager is being subjected to sexual advances. These advances can be so upsetting it may cause them to feel ashamed of their bodies, fear becoming a woman, and they may try to make their bodies go back to a child like appearance through starvation.
Teenagers are under a lot of pressure to suc .....

Joe continued to act out the programs they had just watched with all the fighting,(kicking,punching,ect.).

The Art Of Raising A Child
.... the opposite of what we intended?
The most important rules of parenting are often unknown, or overlooked:
1. Respect Your Child. Treat your child the way you want to be treated. The fact that Tommy's body is smaller doesn't make him less of a person. He has feelings, concerns, and opinions. Value, don't invalidate them. No child is ever too small to deserve your respect.
2. Grant Your Child the Right to Own. Once you have given Tammy the doll, it is hers--irrevocably! Let her toss it, drown i .....

Media Violence
.... violence are teaching their children to do the same. Barbara Escamilla, an Omaha counselor and social worker, said, "Fathers who laugh and cheer at violent action movies are condoning such actions...." Another counselor from Omaha said, "If a kid hears his dad laughing about having beat somebody up when he was 13, then that father is creating an underlying philosophy in the family." Joseph Stankus, an Omaha psychologist, said, "If sombody doesn't show any regard for the results of violence, then maybe y .....

Women's Freedom And Control
.... many years, women finally gained a little freedom and control when the government was first developed in 1776. After learning only how to cook and clean in the home by their mothers, the young girls began to attend school and learned how to use the proper English and mathematics skills. This gave more women a greater opportunity and to have an open mind in the public.
Today women have many rights and a very wide range of freedom. They can go anywhere and do almost anything, except the things that ar .....

TV Trash?
.... of view with a “shhh” don’t tell attitude. This is why Bennett wants to abolish daytime television altogether.
Bennett claims that daytime TV is the problem in our society today. Children are watching and learning the immoral truths of today’s society. But ask yourself where are those children’s parents? Bennett wants to eliminate the talk shows so then our culture can be cleansed, but are the talk shows to blame for our so-called culture rot. Shouldn’t we look to point the finger at other tele .....

Affirmative Action
.... women and other minorities in their work forces. The use of affirmative action was never limited to federal contractors.
The legislative history of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 reveals that during the 1960’s, American blacks and other minorities were denied employment opportunities because of their race, color, sex, religion, and national origin. As a result, minorities and women received lower wages and their rate of unemployment was higher than the country’s overall rate of unemployment. In an effo .....

Improving Education
.... "Further, at-risk students are best served when the teacher provides direct instruction in reading and math." ( ) During the regular school day, students receive a variety of teaching approaches when learning the curriculum. Extended day, however, takes a more "hands on" approach to learning those objectives which are identified as needing improvement during the selection process. A ten to one student/teacher ratio allows for individualized attention to be given. By having a smaller rati .....
