The American Pursuit Of Happiness

Why I’m Proud To Be An American
.... everyon comes together and
celebrates. There are not may other countries who have as much pride in
their country as the American people do.
The biggest excitement of being an American comes from the joy of living in
a democracy. We have the right to vote. This means that it is up to us to
decide who becomes president of our country. We are very lucky to live in
this country and enjoy all of its freedoms. I will always be proud to be
an American. It is pretty cool being a american becasue cool kids, .....

Child Labor
.... child labor doesn’t take
place in old, run-down factories, but in unregulated parts of the economy
such as agriculture and domestic services. Surprising to most, even
countries such as the United States still have their share of problems. In
a recent awareness swap between American and Bangladesh children, both
groups experienced the sight of little kids laboring in sweatshops.
Although the UN wants to help, they are somewhat limited in their
abilities to make dramatic changes. If they put legal res .....

Teenage Love
.... hear about love all around us, in music and movies, on TV,
in stories. If you look in the dictionary, they define love as a tender,
warm feeling; warm liking; affection; attachment. Love is simply a choice
we make when we find someone who makes us happy, and who we trust with our
innermost thoughts and feelings. We hear that love will make us happy. We
hear that single people are lonely. We are told that if we are not part
of a couple, we are not complete. We all want to be part of this thing

More Freedom Or Safety -- What Would You Choose?
.... means the freedom to pursuit and
attain one’s individual potential and that the possession of firearms or
weapons by a student in a school is in no way in keeping with that idea.
Additionally, many students probably are incapable of properly using a gun
and that makes it even more dangerous for them to have one. Even though
Bishop Eustace does not have metal detectors nor are the students searched
when they enter a building, I think that if this is what would be necessary
to ensure the safety of the .....

The Real Issue Of Youth Violence
.... is
particularly disturbing is that people feel that video games are
responsible for violence in youths. I have grown up with video games my
whole life. I annihilate over a million aliens, monsters, and green slimy
things every year. Yet, I have never felt compelled to commit any act of
violence that I see on the screen. What is on the screen stays on the
screen. I have known that from the very beginning. My parents taught me at
an early age that what is on the screen is for fun, and it is not to be
done .....

Straight-Edge: What It Is And What It Isn't
.... decades ago in the
1980-1983 era by the hardcore-punk band called Minor Threat. The song
"Straight-Edge" written by Ian MacKaye, the band's singer, not only coined
the phrase, but it encompassed all of the philosophies that a straight-edge
person believes in. There have been theories that an earlier punk band,
called the Teen Idols (which included Ian MacKaye and the drummer from
Minor Threat*), started the ideology of straight-edge, but the term was not
used until MacKaye wrote and published the song. .....

Immigrants Coming Over To America
.... over two had to be able to walk by themselves. If the doctor
noticed anything wrong he would use a piece of chalk to show the person
required further inspection. If, this was indeed the case, the person
would be set aside in a cage.
Another test was that of sanity. An interpreter would ask each
person a few questions just to find a sensible answer to test mental
stability. The last and most feared doctor checked for disease by lifting
the eyelid. He scared children, and probably spread m .....

Negative Effects On Soldiers From War
.... and physically; therefore their behavior will
not be the same and that affects family life significantly.
Another aftermath of war is the suffering children. Many of them
experience the painful loss of family members such as their parents, grand
parents, and brothers, which sometimes leaves them alone in a harsh world.
In addition, the physical health of the children is affected because of
injuries, lack of food and medical care. All of this leads to emotional
problems that can conflict with th .....

Communication With Teenagers
.... moves from one piece of furniture to the
next. The sister is eyeing the brother, who is younger by a few years and
at least five inches shorter than her. The brother is eyeing the sister
now and at times glancing at the television. The sister wears a frown as
she sits down and the brother has a blank, half-smiling, almost mocking
look upon his face as he stares at the sister.
The sister’s tone of voice is sarcastic and she appears to be
irritated simply by his presence. He begins to talk to her from .....

Money And The Way It Alters The Mind
.... a “University professor,” more of a commodity than a “celebrity.”
Unfortunately, Americans loose their focus on reality because the ones with
the power are the ones who are money hungry and run the world. It is
insane how the majority of Americans see celebrities as heroes instead of
the scientists who try to make the world a better place. The world is run,
not necessarily by the money itself, but the mentality that people have
which makes them crave the power that comes with the pleasure of being

Money Can't Buy Love
.... for money, but in most long-term-genuine marriages the
incentive is love.
Also, many people would be extremely happy living in the country or
in a small town such as Haskins with their spouse.. Living in a mansion or
million dollar subdivision hardly guaranties happiness or love. In million
dollar sub-divisions a person has no chose in what their lawn will look
like, or even what color their house will be. What kind of life is that?
In a small town, a person never worries about the little things an .....

Equity In Canada

The issue of racism is certainly not new to the Halifax area. In
the 1960’s blacks were ordered out of their village, and in 1980’s Sikh
immigrants were called ‘trash’ and told to ‘go home.’ I found the author’
s choice of words quite appropriate when she described the ‘people of the
east’ in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Words such as Bluenoser, Gaelic and
homogeneity were used to describe the vast majority of people who look and
sound the same in the community.

Women In Abusive Relationships

chance of not seeing their sibling again. It can sometimes take as long
as twenty years before they see their sibling. They have missed all those
wonderful years of growing up, laughing and playing as brother or sister.
If the child is at the age at knowing what’s going on, then it’s probably
going to be hard for them to adjust to a new family. It could cause them
to have problems in school, getting into trouble, and not making friends.

Cosmetic Testing On Animals

animals are often immobilized in stocks from which only their heads
protrude. They usually receive no anesthesia during the tests. After
placing the subezce into the rabbits eyes, lab technicians record the
damage to the eye tissue at specific intervals over an average period of
72 hours. The tests sometimes last seven to eighteen days. Reactions to
the subezces include swollen eyelids, ulceration, bleeding, swollen irises
massive deterioration, and blindness. During the tests, rabbits eyelids .....
