Humbled By Nature’s Grandeur
.... of my adventure.
The best part of my experience was in the water. We set out to sea around 5:00pm and returned at around 9:00pm. Those four hours were probably the best four hours of my adolescent life. When I was out on the kayak I saw so many killer whales it was unbelievable. We were in the midst of two whale pods numbering about 90 whales. I had heard that killer whales can attack people. Surprisingly, I was not afraid except for the fact of how cold the water was. It was so cold that .....

Creationism Vs. Evolution
.... thirst for knowledge that lies deep within ourselves. As for myself, I cannot believe in a being which created a universe and a multitude of worlds in a rather short period of time then deigns to lower itself into becoming a puppet-master and "pulling the strings" of the Earth and all of the people therein.
Since this paper touches upon many scientific terms, I feel that in order for the reader to correctly grasp the content I must first define three words: Theory, Law, and Hypothesis. Th .....

Wilderness Required
.... essential to life. Colin Fletcher was one to claim that wilderness is needed:
“And when at last I walked on past the two juniper trees
toward the far side of the plateau I found I was feeling sorry
for any man who was not free to abandon whatever futility
detained him and to walk away into the desert morning with
a pack on his back.”
Such experiences allow for one to gain a sense of who they are, not as a superior being, but as one living creature in an expansive world. This is a .....

Cell Division
.... and the centrioles begin to move towards opposite ends of the cell. Also occurring later in prophase, the nuclear envelope fragments, and the microtubles attach to the kinetochores and overlap. In Metaphase, the chromosomes line up along the metaphase plate. The centromeres are all aligned and the sister chromatids straddle the metaphase plate. Anaphase beings when the sister chromatids are pulled away from each other. The chromosomess begin moving along the microtubles towards opposite ends of the .....

Science And Ethics
.... alters the genes of the fetus. This might be acceptable if the reason for the alteration is a life or death situation. If the baby will not be able to live without the procedure being done, then it is acceptable. But nowadays, doctors are performing genetic engineering to pre-determine the baby’s sex. If parents are now allowed to choose the sex of their child, who can say where to stop? Every parent would want their child to be the "perfect" child. How the child looks, how it thinks, and anything e .....

Creationism And Darwinism
.... Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, which You have ordained; what is man that you are mindful of him? And the son of man, that You visit him?"
Creationism is the product of a literal interpretation of the Biblical story of Genesis. It holds that God created the world in a single act approximately 6,000 years ago--and that human beings, animals, and other forms of life exist today much as they did then. To many creationists, the theory of evolution is heresy. They argue .....

Psychology - Classical Conditioning Vs. Operant Conditioning
.... classical conditioning is Pavlov's Dogs. In this experiment, Pavlov sat behind a one-way mirror and controlled the presentation of a bell. The bell was the conditioned stimulus. A conditioned stimulus was an originally neutral stimulus that could eventually produce a desired response when presented alone. Directly after the ringing of the bell, Pavlov gave the dog food. The food was the unconditioned stimulus. This means that the food caused an uncontrollable response whenever it was presented .....

Types Of Clouds
.... most common of the High Cloud group. They are composed entirely of ice and consist of long, thin, wispy streamers. They are commonly known as "mare's tails" because of their appearance. Cirrus clouds are usually white and predict fair weather.
Cirrostratus clouds, belonging to the high cloud group, are sheet like thin clouds that usually cover the entire sky. The sun or moon can shine through Cirrostratus clouds. Sometimes, the sun or moon will appear to have a halo around it when in the presence of Cir .....

Atomic Structure
.... too, may be this same object but in still another state.
The everyday world is made of molecules. Because molecules are so small, their existence was not easy to establish. Indirect evidence for molecules was strong during the second half of the 19th century, and the first explicit evidence was found when Brownian motion was correctly understood and studied in about 1906 by physicists Albert Einstein and Jean-Baptiste Perrin. There are many kinds of molecules, and it was clear that simplifying .....

From Water To Land
.... The earliest tetrapod known is Acanthostega. It is also considered the most primitive tetrapod. It is very close to its fish ancestry, but still anatomically far from its terrestrial relatives. These creatures still lived in water, but they had a lot of the terrestrial tetrapod anatomical characteristics.
Introduction:
Before tetrapods existed, all vertebrates were confined to living in aquatic habitats. The only animals that lived on land were arthropods. Through natural adaptations, the .....

The Kondratieff Wave
.... quadrants to the K-wave.
In quadrant one we have that “risk is relevant to what the masses think”. In this stage of the K-wave going against mass thinking can result in a very wise choice. Most people can be extremely cautious and pessimistic during this period not knowing what to be cautious about. There is much speculation going on and being one of the first persons to act may give you and advantage.
In the second quadrant nominal rates expand, there’s speculation of hard assets, etc. .....

The Importance Of Insects
.... that they have evolved around them. None of the vibrant colors in the garden were created for your pleasure, nor was the smell of such plants as the roses, in actuality these beauteous pieces of nature we call flowers use sight and smell as attractants for the bees. Plants advertise themselves to who they want to be pollinated by. For instance, some plants such as the honeysuckle and tobacco only give off their potent scent at night, when other plants are inactive. Although during the day these plants .....

Cloning
.... miracle of human life and the god-given individuality each person pocesses". Every person has his or her own mind. It would be cruel to make human clones without real parents, without being unique. If you were to make a copy of a human, you would not be treating that child as an individual. While many people want to be cloned, nobody wants to be a clone.
We must also remember that immoral means never justifies the end, no matter what benifits that end may bring. The horrific experiments conduct .....

Alchemy
.... process of separating gold and silver from the native matrix. The resulting oxide was supposed to possess marvelous powers, and it was thought that there resided within in the individualities of the various metals, that in it their various substances were incorporated. This black powder was mystically identified with the underworld form of the god Osiris, and consequently was credited with magical properties. Thus there grew up in Egypt the belief that magical powers existed in fluxes and alloys. Probably .....
