Photosynthesis
.... types of plant food on three sets of plants and one set with no food. I
will water the plants all the same amount and let all the plants get the same
amount of sun, then measure the height of all the plants at the end of six weeks
and record the data.
The first step of photosynthesis is the absorption of light by a
chlorophyll molecule. "The energy of the absorbed photon is transferred from
one chlorophyll molecule to another until it reaches a site called a reaction
center....One oxygen molec .....

The Prairie
.... ecoysystem is all the biotic and abiotic components of an environment.
The prairie is located in North America. The tempaturevaries greatly and the
environment doesn't get enough rainfall to support trees.
One organism in the ecoysystem that adapts well is grass which
withstands grazing animals and occasional fires.
Producer: An autotroph organism (grass). Consumer: Organism that eats producers
(caterpillars, bison). Primary consumer: Organisms that eat consumers (chicken,
meadowlark). Secondary co .....

The Praying Mantis
.... most common figure
given, though, is about 1800. The ways the Mantid's are classified in the
Animal Kingdom. There is agreement that the collection of mantid species make
up the Mantidae family of insects. The Mantidae family, in turn, is part of the
order/suborder Mantodea that includes a variety of mantid-like species. But the
existing literature does not reflect a clear consensus about what insect order
Mantodea belong in. Some have placed Mantodea in the Dictyoptera Order-with the
roaches. Others p .....

Predator - Prey Relationships
.... 1973). No known organism escapes being a victim of
parasitism(Brum 1989).
Parasitism is similar to preditation in the sense that the parasite derives
nourishment from the host on which it feeds and the predator derives nourishment
from the prey on which it feeds(Nitecki 1983). Parasitism is different from
most normal predator prey situations because many different parasites can feed
off of just one host but very few predators can feed on the same prey(1973). In
parasite-host relationships most .....

Prions
.... science a great deal of doubt as
this would give the dogma of the beginning of live a radical turn.
Prions have been in research for many years with experiments like the
one done by Stanley B. Pruiser and his team of scientists at the School of
Medicine of the University of California at San Francisco in which a study was
carried out on mice to see if he was able to purify the scrapie agent ,another
prion disease, in mice. But mice as humans took very long to develope the
disease, for example Gerst .....

Properties Of Water
.... One
Calorie is about twice as much energy as you need to warm one gram of most other
fluids by the same amount. This makes water much better for regulating the
temperatures of animals and the environment.
Water also has a very high heat of vaporization. Converting one gram of
cold water into ice requires 80 Calories of energy. Converting the same amount
of very hot water into steam requires 540. The high amounts of energy required
to change water from its liquid state make water tend to stay a fl .....

UFOs
.... Security Agency, or NSA, an acronym often assumed by insiders
to mean 'NEVER SAY ANYTHING' , (Stacey 40) " has been blamed for millions of
UFO governmental cover-ups around the nation. "Our problem is with government
secrecy, because it widens the gap between citizens and the government,
making it much more difficult to participate in the democratic process
(Stacey 40)," says Steven Aftergood while addressing UFO secrecy. The UFO
enigma, or as it is formerly know as the "'Cosmic Watergate' : the ongo .....

Protein Synthesis
.... thus transverses the
ribosome with each three nitrogen base condon selecting an amino acid. This
continues until the ribosome encounters a stop condon. When this happens the
amino acid chain is released from the tRNA and is a protein.
This process allows for the genetic information stored in the DNA to be
expressed in the physical and functional makeup of the cell.

NO DEFENCE
Areas in Ontario mainly southern regions that are near the Great Lakes, such
substances as limestone or other known antacids can neutralize acids entering
the body of water thereby protecting it. However, large areas of Ontario that
are near the Pre©Cambrian Shield, with quartzite or granite based geology and
little top soil, there is not enough buffering capacity to neutralize even s .....

Mitochondria
.... is a semi-autonomous organelles containing the
machinery for the production of some of its own proteins. The main function of
the mitochondrion is the oxidation of the pyruvate derived from glycolysis and
related processes to produce the ATP required to perform cellular work.(Campbell
182-9)
Pyruvate, or fatty acids from the breakdown of triglycerides or
phospholipids, pass easily through pores in the outer mitochondrial membrane
made up of a channel protein called porin. The inner membrane is a more

Sharks

hating the Great White for it’s ferocity. It might have also been the size of
the shark in the movie that’s kept thousands of people off the beaches and out
of the water. Better yet, it could have been the overall storyline: A Great
White shark with an eating disorder and a taste for human flesh. Perhaps that’s
what is keeping vacationers from grabbing their trousers and snorkels.
Over all, there have been 1026 attacks on humans by sharks in the last
ten years. Only 294 of thes .....

Aquarius

Albali: The name comes from the Arabic, which means "swallower"; no one
really knows why the star got this name
Situla: This name comes from Latin and means "well bucket". Situla was
the original Arabic name for the entire constellation Aquarius.
There are three star clusters contained in Aquarius. M2, which was
discovered in 1764, is one that can be seen with a small telescope. A larger
telescope is needed to make out the individual stars. M72 is a .....

Near Earth Objects
.... of Mars and Jupiter".
Where dot they come from? The NEOs are small objects (<7 miles) with a
range of compositions spanning all common asteroid types. They are derived from
a mixture of main-belt collisional fragments and burned-out short-period comets.
According to Dr. Tom Gehrels of the University of Arizona Spacewatch program,
"The total number of NEOs over 100 meters is estimated to be about 100,000, with
150 or so currently known".
Do they pose any real threat to Earth? The Earth orbits th .....

thirteen feet long and weighs in at seven hundred pounds. It's cousin, the
Bengal Tiger, is only seventy five percent it's size.
The Siberian Tiger's thick coat is normally yellow with black stripes,
however in winter, the yellow fades to near white for better camouflage. It's
body is heavily muscled for great strength. It's hearing and sight are
excellent, and it's night vision is five times better than a humans.
The Siberian Tiger is now very rare and on the endangered species l .....

Silverfish
.... eggs are very small and deposited
in cracks and crevices. A female normally lays less than 100 eggs during her
life span . Under ideal conditions, the eggs hatch in two weeks, but may take up
to two months to hatch. The young nymphs are very much like the adults except
for size. Several years are required before they are sexually mature, and they
must mate after each molt if viable eggs are to be produced. Populations do not
build up rapidly because of their slow development rate and the small number of
