The History Of Anti-Semitism Starting From The Bible To The Holocaust
.... major anti-Semitic massacres took place during the
Crusades. It was a period in which much of the civilized world lived under
a feudalistic government. In such a system priests, bishops, and most of
all, dukes, had power over the people (Rosenthal). In this time, many
Christian authorities blamed Jews for killing Jesus and took the
opportunity to use that allegation to gather money for their crusades. The
Duke of Lorraine wanted to go on such a crusade, and to collect money he
spread the rumor that he .....

Prayer In Schools: To Pray, Or Not To Pray?
.... Christian, and choose to pray on my own
before tests, and at other times, but I strongly feel that people with
other beliefs should not be subjected to my, or even the majority of the
class's beliefs. In America, it is a right of the people to choose their
belief, or lack there of, and we should learn to respect and honor that.
I personally agree with the first two statements. The picture of
Jesus should not be aloud because Jesus Christ is mainly a Christian icon.
I also believe that a moment of .....

The Catacombs And Christian Persecutions
.... buried in a necropolis along the Via
Ostiense, a section of the catacombs.
In the first half of the second century, as a result of donations, the
Christians started burying their dead underground. That is how the
catacombs were founded. Many of them began and developed around family
tombs whose owners, newly converted Christians, did not reserve them to the
members of the family, but opened them to their fellow people, showing the
faith.
As time went on and room started to run out in the catacombs, thes .....

Rabbis
.... interperit the Bible. Moses is put in the back of the class
witht the new students as a symbol that he is not the master of the Bible.
Moses was the writer. He had no say in what it meant or contained. Rather
he was the first to interpret the words of God and write them. The fact
that God put in the Bible, obscure text for future Rabbis is a symbol that
he expected them to pick apart at even the most minute pieces of grammar.
The Rabbis are expected to find what is necessary in the Bible.

Buddhism
.... understanding of oneself.
Buddha taught "the Four Noble Truths." The first is "Life is
Suffering," which means everyone suffers jealously, pain, sickness, etc.
even enlightened ones. The second is "Suffering is Caused by Attachment,"
which basically says one must accept responsibility for one's actions. The
third noble truth is, "Freedom from Attachment is the Cure for Suffering";
this says when one is released from suffering he shall reach a state of
mystical unity with the one that created th .....

Christianity And Change
.... about the ending of the world.
There was a time when Christians naturally turned to God when they
had problems. Today that doesn't seem to be the case anymore. Traditions
have drastically changed. It almost seems as if religion is a dying
tradition all together. “The signs of death are seen in the declining
membership of the mainline Protestant traditions and in both the declining
attendance and declining authority now seen in the Catholic and Orthodox
churches” (Rollins). People are just not goi .....

The Role Of Women In The Church
.... of view. However, if the Bible is of
divine inspiration, then a cautious consideration of passages relevant to
a particular issue must be undertaken. Traditions and customs that have
arisen after the Bible was written may thus be carefully scrutinized. Such
practices may or may not prove sound after comparison with scripture.
Before we discuss specific issues concerning women in worship, we
should consider principles derived from the relationship of Adam and Eve
as described in Genesis chapter o .....

A Comparison Of Islam And Christianity
.... framework, but they also differ in many ways.
The word Islam means "surrender" or "submission," submission to the
will of Allah, the one God. Muslims are those who have submitted themselves.
The basic creed of Islam is brief: There is no God but Allah, and Muhammad
is the Prophet of Allah. Islam teaches that there is one God, the creator
and sustainer of the universe. This God, Allah, is compassionate and just.
Because He is compassionate, He calls all people to believe in Him and
worship Him. Beca .....

God's Character Traits
.... were given to us by the Holy Spirit) tells of God's
spirituality. God is very just.
He judges all that sin with eternal punishment. But God is also a
fair God and allows us to repent and trust in him to get forgiveness and
eternal life. Psalm 9:16 (The Lord punishes the wicked justly) and 101:1 (I
will sing about your kindness and justness) tell of how God is just. God is
very truthful. He never lies or breaks his promises to us. 1 Kings 17:24
(Everything from the Lord is truthful) and Isaiah 45:19 .....

Do Christians Sin?
.... know
that we have all sinned and that there is sin in us. Chapter 2 begins with
an admonition to not sin, "but if anyone does sin," there is forgiveness in
Jesus Christ. Sin in this passage is something within us that we have all
at one time acted on, but now, as followers of Christ, must flee from.
Chapter 5 brings yet another complication to this whole process. Here in
v.16 is brought in the difference between mortal and not-mortal sin. The
Johannine community believed that one could intercede for a b .....

Buddhism
.... One day in 533, according to tradition, he met an old man,
a sick man, and a dead body, and he suddenly realized that suffering is the
common part of humankind. He then met a beggar monk who was calm and
peaceful and decided to adopt his way of life and family, wealth, and power
in the search for truth. This decision, known in Buddhism as the Great
Renunciation, is celebrated by Buddhists as a turning point in history.
Gautama was then 29 years old, according to tradition.

The Roots Of Christianity
.... The Christian religion began with the ministry of Jesus Christ. He
proclaimed himself to be the Messiah. Messiah is an Aramaic word which
means "anointed king or deliverer." The name Christ is the Greek equivalent
of Messiah.
Jesus called Peter, James, John, and other disciples to assist him
with his ministry. He taught his disciples that he was sent by God to do
the work of the Father. The disciples testified that Jesus was the Christ.
On one occasion, Peter replied to Jesus, "And we b .....

What Is A Gospel?
.... two parts -- sayings and narratives. The narratives include
miracle stories and biographical legends, while the sayings are more on
the complex side. The sayings contain apophthegmata, proverbs, parables,
and more.
They invite the reader to believe in and obey Christ as the Lord.
The meaning of the gospel changes from the coming of the kingdom to the
meaning of the coming of Jesus Himself, and of His life, death, and
resurrection. "The good news of the kingdom includes a call to repentance

The Differences Between Judaism And Christianity
.... history and
the destiny of all nations.
I'm not going to delve any further into the history of Judaism. At
this point in time I will simply state that there are many differences in
between Christianity and Judaism The Jews believe in "anointed prophets,"
or someone who speaks for God. The majority of Jews rejected Jesus Christ
because Jesus claimed to be God. The Jews believe that Jesus was just a
prophet and he is not God. The Jews understand God as being set apart from
everything else. God .....
