The PLO
.... representative of the Palestinian people". Subsequent
to this, Arafat addressed the United Nations where the organization was
given official observer status.
In 1970 the PLO commandos fought a short but bloody war with the
Jordanian army after which they were expelled from that country and settled
in Lebanon. Little by little, they became a state within a state, and thus
contributed to the disintegration of Lebanon after 1975.
The aftermath of the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982 was .....

minorities that the government runs. It will save $125 million annually by
elemating programs that the state uses to inforce affirmative action.
These savings can be used for other, more constructive programs to help
elimate discrimination. Maybe other Propositions on the ballet can use the
extra funds. I think that ending affirmative action will be the right
thing to do. It ends government-sponsored discrimination by rejecting
quotas, preferences and set-asides.

Revolution Of 1800

terms as president and it seemed that if the balance of power was changed
that the upset party would rebel. This election obviously quieted any fears
of rebellion and symbolized that all the people in America respected and
honored the wishes of other Americans and of the government.
The Revolution of 1800 clearly was an omen for the continued success
and growth of the United States of America.

Moreover the number of teens smoke occasionally jumped to 27.8% in 1994

Clinton's program includes Prohibition of sales to minors. Canada has
found such bans are useless because 59% of Ontario's smoking minors still

an adequate national defense.
Traders and commercial men found their plans for commerce on a
national scale impeded by local interference with interstate commerce. The
currency of the states and the nation were hopelessly muddled. Creditors
everywhere were angry about the depreciated paper money which the agrarians
had made and were attempting to force upon those from .....

The US Government
.... During the interim, Clinton was hired by the law
firm Wright, Lindsey and Jennings. In the 1982 elections, Mr. Clinton went
after the position of governor with renewed vigor and defeated incumbent
Republican Frank White. During the campaigning for the election a Time
magazine article stated: "If Clinton does win, it could seem like less a
comeback than a canny mid-course correction in the path of a young, bright
political star."
Clinton went on to win the next two gubernatorial elections in .....

Charles Darwin And Imperialism

number of political policies and social movements. England at the turn of the
century was still a largest power in the international system. The English
perceived, through the justification of Darwinism, they were fit to be the
imperial hegemon in the world. The issue this essay will deal with is
Imperialism and how Darwinism justified its practice. Darwin argued in his work,
The Decent of Man, "When civilised nations come into contact with barbarians
the struggle is short except where a dea .....

Direct Democracy Vs Representative Democracy

what is best for the community and enact the appropriate laws. Any law which
was not directly created by the citizens is not valid, and if those laws are
imposed on people, that is equivalent to the people being enslaved.
The citizens of a society must both develop and obey `the supreme

Loss Of Freedom Through Apathy
.... because it was my first ever
experience involved with the election. For 17 years I stood as a common
bystander to this great American tradition. Volunteering my hours made me feel
like I was part of something important.
Mostly my work consisted of random polling. I would call people up between the
hours of 7 and 9 P.M. and ask them a few questions about the election. With
every call I hoped for the best, but it seemed that I was calling people at the
time they were most irritable. Most would simply .....

The Right Of Autonomy
.... laws of the state simply because they
are the laws. This is the major conflict with political authority. Some
philosophers believe that a solution to this problem is the concept of
democracy.
This argument says that if men rule themselves then they would be both
the law givers and followers, combining autonomy with authority. His
obligation to submit to the laws stems not from the divine right of the monarch,
nor from the hereditary authority of a noble class, but from the fact that he
himself is .....

Why Do Governments Find It So Hard To Control Public Expenditure?
.... occurred is due to Wagner's law of increasing
state activity.' Wagner's claim is that as per capita real income increases in
particular nations, they will spend a higher proportion of national product
through government. As Wagner's reasons for increased public expenditure tend
to be centralised around industrialisation and its associated effects it is not
surprising to find that he thought the density of urban living would increase
social frictions to such an extent that the government would be called .....

Why Did The Polls Get It Wrong In 1992?
.... frustrated with the media concentrating
only on their position in the polls, leaked their own private polls to the press,
resulting in a late surge of support (Crewe, 1992, p.478).
Britain generally has a much greater number of opinion polls carried out than in
other countries, this is due to the large number of national newspapers, and the
amount of current affairs programming on television. The period prior to the
1992 general election saw a much greater intensity of opinion polling than ever
bef .....
