Adam De La Halle And Ars Antiqua Time Period
.... instruments. Many of the songs that were originally monophonic were
easily transformed into homophonic by add extra voices or instruments.
Polyphonic is the type of music we hear today. Polyphonic is when there is a
melody line accompanied by harmony. A considerable amount of Adam de la Halle's
polyphonic work was designed for plays. One of Adam's manuscripts contains the
oldest known existence of the sharp sign. In 1872 his music was officially
published.

Appalachian Musicians And Singers And The Songs They Write
.... over from generation to generation in Appalachia.
Another branch of Appalachian music that encircle around religion is
bluegrass. One of the best known Bluegrass artists (Bill Monroe)Known also as
the father of bluegrass music, dedicated a portion of every performance to a
gospel bluegrass harmony number. Bluegrass became popular in the region for a
number of reasons. Not the least of which was the inexpensiveness of home made
instruments.(Ergood and Kuhre 189) The relatively small size made the

A Rock Concert
.... The crowd would shift as people passed out. This only
allowed me to move closer to the front. As you can tell, I was packed in until
the end.
Your sight was not left out either. Plenty of pyrotechnics kept your eyes
filled with colorful wonder as the music played on. Souvenir "AC/DC money" fell
from the top of the building. The bills fluttered down to the hungry hands of
the crowd. The stage was a constant flurry of excitement. This was generally
caused by the hyperactive guitarist, Angus .....

Audio Format Wars
.... over any changes you might wish to make in the recording" (Mclan &
Wichman,1988). In simple terms it means that the digital circuitry samples the
signal and then reproduces what it has seen. The quality of the recording
depends on the sampling rate of the machine. The sampled signal is then encoded
to the tape or disc in 1's and 0's, just like a computer disk drive would encode
information. However, the biggest advantage of digital recording is the fact
that it eliminates tape "hiss" that is usually .....

How The Beatles Changed Rock Music
.... possible to produce in live performances.
They were the "Greatest show on Earth." They were the biggest concert
draws on Earth. Their music and lyrics changed the lives of a generation and
the generation that followed. Rock ‘n' roll was a mixture of blues and country.
Its rhythm seemed to have an amazing power over young people that couldn't be
understood by anyone born before 1940. John Lennon joined Paul McCartney, Pete
Best, and George Harrison to form the hottest group that was around at that time .....

Censorship...Who Gives A F**k!!!
.... the
theater wouldn't let me in. When I argued that "my parents said I could go see
it!!", the theater management always said things like I need to be 13 or must be
accompanied by a parent and so on. I then proposed this question, my parents
said I could see it, now why can't I see it? The answer to that question is the
government doesn't think I am old enough. My mom said live with it, there is
nothing you can do. I think that made me more inquisitive.
That was just the beginning, I was too young to go .....

Coparison Between Two Guitars: Ibanez 453 RVC And The Gibson Les Paul
.... called Humbuckers, which are much higher and of a better quality than
the pickups on an Ibanez. The Ibanez comes with regular music store pickups
that are not bad but do not have the quality of the Humbuckers. So having
better quality means that the pickups are more sensative; being more sensative
means that the guitar can put out clearer and higher quality sound.Moving to the
lower part of the guitar, both guitars have knobs. The purpose of these knobs
are to control the different types of sounds that .....

Comparison Between Piano Concert By Barbara Wieman And Sacramento Chamber Orchestra
.... use of rests that was displayed. I would call this piece very serious.
After Beethoven we were treated to F. Schuberts Impromptu in G flat Major, Op.
90, No.3. This piece was very pleasing to the ear so we could call this
consonant. The music seemed to flow and had a great rhythm. This piece was
romantic in nature and probably that is why it was written in the romantic era.
C. Debussy ‘s Feux d'artifice (fireworks) was the next piece played. The
harmony was very obscured in this piece of music. The .....

Gangsta Rap: Crime
.... disaster area. This area has given us hero's such as Clint
Eastwood, Humphrey Bogart, and Bruce Willis. Once filmmakers would evoke sexual
interests through eye contact or a touch of the leg. Today cinematographers
resort to graphic sexual acts and horrific beatings. A poll by Newsweek stated
that sexual moderation and fidelity are normal for both married people and for
those who live together. In contrast, 7 out of 8 televised sexual encounters
involve extramarital sex (Newsweek, 1994). This trend .....

Adam Sandler's "What The Hell Happened To Me?": How Music Affects Culture
.... say he's "only happy when [he's] drinking JD" The point is that people are
changing because of society and our culture's lack of certain elements, such as
respect and discipline.
Values. The values presented by this song include the value of respect and
discipline, and the need for more strict ways to keep a young mind safe of
destruction. These values are presented in the line "I only did the things that
Mama said I should, but now I do whatever I want." That line shows that values
change as we age and t .....

Death Of The Superstars
.... same time that the man behind the counter of the local pub that
they were in looked a lot like John Lennon. They also noted the young lady
singing in the corner looked and sounded incredibly like Janice Joplin. The book
or should I say short story continued on as only King could, people dying ,
strange conversations and just weirdness in general.
Now, I told that little story because I wanted to give you a little
background on why I chose this subject. What would have happened if Jimi Hendrix

Early History Of The Pipe Organ
.... of consistent pressure, which leads to inconsistent
pitch and tuning; also, many people were required to operate the bellows since
there were upwards of twenty-four bellows per organ (Hopkins & Rimbault 35).
Also, with organs of this size, the bellows took up large amounts of space, thus
forcing the organ to be located in a fixed place, such as a church.
Up until the eleventh century (approximately), pitch and range of organs were
extremely limited, mainly in part to the lack of a any style of keyboard. .....

Can Manufactured Bands Ever Be Classified As 'Good' Art? The Effect Of The Market On The Construction Of Music
.... and crafted to the personal specifications of the artist.
This makes the product original.
Two values by which I judge music are creativity and originality. I
believe that good art provides 'food for thought' - that special something which,
after the tape has finished, after leaving the cinema or closing a book, leaves
an 'aftertaste' - something to think about, be it, 'how did he/she play that' or,
'what was he/she trying to say with that piece,' the list goes on.

Influence Of Music: Emotions And Effects
.... Essay is about how music can influence the emotions and effects of a person.
I will be giving you precentages. I will also be giving you quotes of students
around my age group.
Music can influence the way a person can dress. If some one that is listens to
rock&roll will dress outraged and may wear nose rings. Students that listen to
country may dress with a cow boy hat. A person that listens to oldies may dress
with clothes from the past.
Music can also influence the way a person thinks about somthi .....

Pearl Jam, Everclear, And No Doubt
.... a band from Portland. They are not as popular as Pearl Jam,
but they do have a large following of fans. The three band members of Everclear
are Art Alexis, (lead vocals, and guitar) Greg Eklund, (drums and vocals) and
Craig Montoya, (bass, and vocals). Their album together is Sparkle and Fade, and
it is one of the best albums I've ever heard. Among the may popular songs are
Heroin Girl, Sparkle and Fade, and Santa Monica. All of the lyrics are good, but
there is a lot of profanity on this album.
