.... the white business men.
The Youngers, specifically Walter believe “no matter how hard black folks
work they can't get ahead in this world.” He also believes it is so much
harder for black people to get anywhere that he would lose all of the money

Catcher In The Rye: Childhood Innocence - What Holden Never Had
.... she [Phoebe] ever told me to shut up. It sounded
terrible. God, it sounded terrible. It sounded worse than swearing." There
is one more outstanding quotation from the novel which is found on page two
hundred and thirteen. "I felt so damn happy all of a sudden, the way old
Phoebe was going around and around [the carousel]." All these examples
clearly show that Holden appreciated "childhood innocence" to a great
extent. Yet Holden acts the opposite.
The irony in this novel is Holden's behavior, which i .....

theologians of the nineteenth century. This extremely devout Christian

David Hume's An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding
.... love, hate, will, desire and so on. His
argument to this is that, he says, take a blind or deaf man that has been
blind or deaf since birth. They cannot picture color or sound, though they
have the natural capacities for such. They simply lack the necessary
"impression" of sound or color, as so they can visualize and manipulate
these concepts with their imaginations.
These all seem like good philosophical argumentation, and are
highly convincing, except for one seemingly overlooked flaw. Later .....

.... up diving right down to the steel boxes that contained the "White
Sharks". The men were curious and so they opened the box. Nothing
happened at first and then glowing eyes caught their attention. One guy
was killed. The other guy managed to get away and swim for about 200 yards
and then he was down. The men's bodies washed up on shored weeks later.

was up to them to figure out what it was. More strange things were .....

Report On The Prince By Machiavelli
.... virtue, which means he is strong, confident, talented, as well as
smart. A prince cannot be uncertain, because uncertainty is a sign of
weakness. Fortune controls half of human's actions, and man's will control
the other half. Virtue is the best defense for fortune, and virtue must be
used in order to keep fortune in check. The prince must take advantage of
situations based solely on if it is best for the state. He should choose
his decisions based on contemporary and historical examples. A prince

Summary Of Terkel's My American Century
.... hostility
toward someone- that someone happened to be blacks.
The reading doesn't really concentrate on all of the things he did
as a Klan member, except to say that he did particularly “hate” one of the
black people in town more than most-Ann Atwater. He claimed to hate her
specifically because every time he went into town, she was leading some
kind of demonstration. I didn't think she would really be all that
important to the rest of the story, but in my eyes she's the most important.

characters as props, that is, characters which carry out the form of
biblical themes. On the day before he leaves when he wakes up, Manolin,
his helper, comes to his aid with food and drink. Also a point that might .....

A Portrait Of The Artist As A Young Man: Is Stephen Dedalus Really James Joyce?
.... observations and reactions to the world around him.
This novel is “enclosed in a sustained symbolic pattern.” Stephen
Dedalus is symbolized as “rich and many-faceted.” Critic Elizabeth Drew
states that Stephen is a rebel who withdraws from Ireland, family,
nationality and religion. Stephen rebels in two ways. On one level, his “
intellectual and emotional development fit him finally to....leave Ireland.”
And on another level, he learns to use “language, his medium of ingenuity.”

The predicament in this story was that events such as a bad crop season

"witchcraft" is the answer the these questions. The unfortunate
circumstance for some of the accused witches/wizards was that some of them
had admitted to such crimes. The girls had fits and calling outs that
didn't benefit them either.
Some important happenings were when at Reverand Burro .....
