Huxley includes in his book a group of people unaffected by the changes in
society, a group that still has religious beliefs and marriage, things no
longer part of the changed society, to compare and contrast today's
culture with his proposed futuristic culture.
But one theme that both Brave New World and Fahrenheit 451 use in
common is the theme of individual discovery by refusing to accept a
passive approach to life, and refusing to conform. In addition, the

A Deeper Look Into Sexuality Of Steinbeck's "The Chrysanthemums" And Its Literary Criticisms
.... when looking at various
criticisms, I found a division line that could be made between the sexes.
Most women agreed with me and felt the sexual tension apparent in the story.
This sexual tension was quiet and sensual. The only men that picked up on
this picked out some overtly sexual innuendoes and chose to ignore the
subtleties as Eliza's mood changes and tone of voice. The other men
attributed any sexual tension to Eliza's need for children, which is a
valid point, but it ignores too many other .....

The Worth Of Huckleberry Finn
.... other. The point which Twain drives toward in this point of the book
is that people are basically sheep, a point reiterated later when a large
group of people goes to lynch a man, and end up leaving quietly without
doing anything. This summarizes the basic view Mark Twain held of the
average southern person.
Mark Twain demonstrated the way a child might think when Tom Sawyer
started a band of outlaws in which everyone had to sign an oath in blood in
the beginning of the book. In Tom's band .....

The Stone Angel By Margaret Laurence
.... themes. The Stone Angel is a very effective story
due largely to the biblical, water, and flower imagery.
The biblical imagery is very strong and can be found numerous times
throughout the novel. The name of the main character, Hagar, is also the
name of a hand maid in a biblical story. Many parallels are made between
Margaret Laurence's Hagar and the biblical Hagar. The Hagar in the bible
was to conceive a son with the husband of her owner, Sarah, who, herself,
was unable to conceive. Hagar di .....
