Drinking: A Love Story - A Review
.... by a lack of love, affection, and comfort. The drink took on a role as if it were her companion: someone who gave her confidence, support, and LOVE. She drank to ease the tention before meeting friends, continued to drink once they got there to keep the mood light and conversation interesting, was always up for one more round, and was always the last to leave. If she was physically able she would drink alone when she got home, until she hit the point of passing out. More times than not she wouldn .....

The Photographs Of Margaret Bourke-White: A Review
.... job of getting to a good angle in order to include as much detail as possible. I think it is very interesting looking at her pictures taken from during the war. I would like to go downtown to take some grand view photographs, including lots of detailed subjects. I like to develop the pictures in black and white because it looks neat. White also does a good job of shooting pattern samples. I would also like to try and take more pattern samples.
Two photographs that I enjoy are of an old man and a house .....

Character Symbolization In Lord Of The Flies
.... by the death of Piggy and the destruction of the conch shell, which has very similar symbolism to Piggy. The gradual shift is also measured by various incidents that obstruct Piggy's mental reasoning, such as the breaking of his eye glasses, and the loss of the boys' faith in him. Piggy's character is used to show how even the best solution to a problem can easily be overlooked because of the lack of respect, pre-established prejudices, and the lack of mature thinking processes.
Jack Merridew's role is .....

Kerouac's On The Road: Living In Clip
.... interpretation of literature altogether. The writings of Jack Kerouac voice the desire of an era still clinging to the proverbial values of Middle America, and that is why Kerouac's works continue to enthrall the masses at large. On the Road exemplifies Kerouac's search for "IT," and the road is Sal Paradise's single guide; however, Sal's escapades with Dean Moriarty are most certainly energetic spurts of motivation and pure insanity.
On the Road is the charismatic adventure of two men, hungry for lif .....

The Return Of The Native: The Opening Chapter
.... novel. The biggest effect of this theme is on Eustacia. The fact that Clym delayed sending his letter to Eustacia, coupled with the fact that Captain Vye unwittingly kept the letter from Eustacia until it was too late, suggests that perhaps destiny is against her. It is under the downpour of the rain, on the rugged heath where Eustacia laments her fate. Eustacia’s own remark, “how destiny is against me!” (354) and “I have been injured and blighted and crushed by things beyond my control!” (354) affirm t .....

Of Mice And Men: George, Lennie, And Crooks
.... is to work on a ranch “bucking grain bags bustin’ a gut.” Primarily, that is his official job, but the most important of them all is to watch his simple-minded friend, Lennie. George has to speak for Lennie, lest he slip away and give the reason why they ran out of weed. In the beginning of the book, the first impression is that George is harsh with Lennie, but in terms of the entire novel, we might say that he was, if anything, not strict enough.
George and Lennie have created a dream of their having .....

Imperfections come within all men. This brings forth the difference between voluntary and the involuntary crimes. Oedipus is in fact a good man, who was “the unfortunate man who had committed an unintentional crime.” Sheppard states his philosophy of a good man. “Of the best it may be said that they are in a sense ‘good’ since there is nothing ‘shameful’ in their intentional and purposed deed and thought.
