Essay Galaxy - Holidays In Mexico
Holidays In Mexico
A white Christmas for Hispanics does not exist. Most of the countries that they live in like New Mexico for example have tropical weather during Christmas. In Mexico the celebration of the holiday starts with Las Posadas, this is nine days of candlelight and lively parties. Throughout Mexico, there is a reenactment of the holy family’s to Bethlehem. Children do this; it is an active way of teaching them the story of the nativity. This festival is finished with the smashing of piñatas and a scramble for the fruits, sugar cane, peanuts, and candies that come out.
Both amateur and professional groups stage Pastorelas (or shepherds plays), throughout the holiday season.
