The abolitionist movement was intended to get rid of one of the darkest things in our country’s history. Pioneers of abolitionism devoted their lives to fight for freedom and the pursuit of a better life for blacks. One of the most famous abolitionists is Harriet Tubman. Her efforts in the Underground Railroad and in the Civil War strengthened the abolitionist movement by accomplishing the goal it was intended to do: free slaves and abolish slavery.
