Equus Act One 1. Alan Strang embraces a horse called "Nugget". Martin Dysart, a psychiatrist, describes what he sees Alan and Nugget doing. Alan and Nugget disappear and Dysart addresses the audience, telling them about him and that he's partly feeling being a horse. Then he commences to tell a story. 2. Dysart is working on his desk, when Hesther, a magistrate, enters and asks Dysart to take Alan as a patient, because she doesn't want to be send to prison. Dysart accepts Alan, even though he can't cope with the number of patients he already has. 3. Alan arrives and Dysart tries to question him, but Alan does not answer, he starts singing advertisement songs instead. Dysar
