Depression, the Fight Within Throughout the age of man, the study of depression related illnesses had been very minimal to say the least. Not much could be learned about depression until this century because not much was known about the chemistry and the psychology of the brain; the basis of where and why people get depressed. Depression is caused by many different factors some of which include heredity, chemical reactions of the brain, the death of a loved one, drug use, and many others that most people will experience in their lifetime (Whybrow 56). “Even though depression is a medical illness, there is still enormous stigma attached
