Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Throughout the years, studies have shown that prenatal alcohol use can cause physical and mental disabilities in infants and children. According to Anderson "fetal alcohol syndrome (FAS) is expressed as a pattern of mental, physical, and behavioral defects which may develop in the unborn child when the mother consumes alcohol during the course of her pregnancy" (88). This can be a very dangerous situation having symptoms that last a lifetime, sometimes leading to death. Although some researchers argue that there is a safe drinking limit while pregnant, abstinence of al
