The Romantics
A lot of people have written poetry over the centuries. One era had three groups of writers. The transitional writers, first generation of Romantics, and second generation of Romantics were more different than similar in their writing.
All three groups wrote mostly about nature, but the transitional writers, such as William Blake, wrote more in the common language and about innocence. Blake's poem, "The Lamb," shows innocence in three ways. The beginning asks the Little Lamb, "who made thee?" This shows ignorance- or rather, no knowledge- of God. Around the middle, the poem reads, "He is meek, and He is mild;/ He became a little child." All these characterize innocence. T
