Summary of The Great Gatsby The novel, The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, made it's smashing debut during the raging twenties of America. Fitzgerald's creation critiqued the culture of America's East, and naturally people have responded with nothing but praise for the novel. Fitzgerald's use of creative writing "tricks," his description of American myths, and his parallel between Gatsby and the American identity produce a novel of perfection.
