Essay Galaxy - Cyrano de Bergerac
Cyrano de Bergerac
Every person who reads a classic tragedy knows that the protagonist has a “fatal flaw” that overtakes him in the end. Cyrano de Bergerac is no different. Cyrano, however, seems to have more than one. One flaw could be the way he thinks of himself. The other could be his love for Roxane.
Cyrano is a wonderful thinker, but he has problems with his self-image. He is a magnificent poet, which he definitely knows. He is a renowned fighter, which he also knows. He has proven these two things repeatedly, and in doing that, has inflated his ego. The one thing that can bring his ego down is his face. Cyrano thinks he is ugly…and nothing can change that
