Representation of Women through Art Women play a very important role in the creation of art from the seventeenth century to the present twentieth century. Women were seen in many different ways during these centuries ranging from sex symbols all the way to lovable mothers and wives. Many artists brought about this representation of women's modernization throughout the centuries through their artwork. There are also written articles about these artists and their paintings which analyze the representation of women's evolution during these centuries. Among these articles, there are four which concentrate on the issue of women and their representation through the creation
