The Swamp Dwellers: Tragic Flaw of Igwezu
The play, “The Swamp Dwellers”, written by Wole Soyinke, highlighted the story of an African man caught between two opposing worlds. On one hand, Igwezu grew in a culture that had a set way of doing things. Yet on the other hand, there were more opportunities to be held in the city. If Igwezu was to become a successful businessman, then he should have chosen one world and forgotten the other. Igwezu is a tragic hero because he has the classic characteristic of the archetype.
