Aluminum was the first discovered by Danish chemist Christan Oersted in
1825 using a chemical process involving potassium amalgam. The process was
later improved by French chemist Friedrich Wohler by using metallic
potassium. Woholer was also the first person to measure the specific
gravity of aluminum. Pure aluminum is found in an ore called bauxite. IT
is estimated that aluminum is formed on about 8% of the earth's surface.
